PRESENTATION OF THE MUSTANG CAR CLUB REQUESTING A SPECIAL FEE FOR
ONE DAY USE OF THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS
David Osborne and Jeff Garrett, with the Mustang Car Club, appeared to request a special fee for one day use at the Festival Grounds. They rented the Festival Grounds last year when the event they had planned in Cherokee had to be moved because of the water contamination problems. Some discussion was held regarding the type of event they would host and the fact that their organization is a designated 501(c)3 non-profit group
CAROL BURRELL MADE
A MOTION TO CHARGE THE MUSTANG CAR CLUB $250.00 FOR ONE DAY USE OF THE FESTIVAL
GROUNDS; SECONDED BY BURTON EDWARDS. THE
MOTION WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
COLLECTION OF FEES
Vice Chairman Tammy Wight opened the discussion of this item by asking about what the concern is. It was explained that the Town Clerk has a hard time getting festival promoters who have had an event approved by the Board to pay their deposit within the 30 days allotted in the rules for renting the Festival Grounds.
Sonja Michel made a motion that when the Town
Clerk writes her letter to an applicant who has been approved for use of the
Festival Grounds, that the letter be registered and that it include a statement
that if they do not send the deposit within the designated amount of time, then
the Festival Grounds can be rented for the dates that they had wanted; seconded
by Carol Burrell. The motion was approved
unanimously.
MOTORCYCLE RUN
Police Chief Scott Sutton mentioned that the Canton Police Department is hosting a motorcycle run as a benefit for an officer who was severely injured in an accident, and want to end the run at the Festival Grounds. The motorcycle run will take place on Saturday April 14.
OTHER BUSINESS
Vice Chairman Tammy Wight mentioned that she would like to see some special consideration given to persons who have had successful events at the Festival Grounds year after year. Some consideration that would allow those persons to not have to go through the same approval process as a first time user.
CAROL BURRELL MADE A MOTION TO ADJOURN; SECONDED BY DAN MASSEY. THE MEETING ADJOURNED AT 4:20P.M.
